The Poppies looked set to lose their unbeaten record until Gareth Seddon popped up in the 90th minute to claim a point.
Nicky Eaden cleared a header off the line just before half-time to keep it 0-0 at half-time before Yemi Obubade gave Oxford the lead after 72 minutes.
The home side looked set to hold on for victory until Seddon's late equaliser.
