"The cream always rises to the top."
That's the saying Rushden & Diamonds boss Garry Hill believes will take his side towards the top of the Blue Square Premier – despite a run of five games without a win which has left them in the bottom half of the league table.

Tomorrow they hope to bounce back from the midweek disappointment at Barrow by picking up maximum points for the first time since the opening week.

The visitors to Nene Park are fifth-placed Crawley Town, managed by Hill's old rival Steve Evans who is serving a 12-match touchline ban.

However, Hill remains relaxed about Diamonds' promotion prospects.

He said: "I look at the table and see we're six points off the top and four away from the play-offs.

"I don't worry about anything else. I'm sure there's a lot of belief with the players and supporters about the quality we've got.

"Hopefully we can put a couple of wins together and go on a good run. I think we're capable of five or six successive wins.

"I'm feeling confident. If the players weren't good enough then I would have a little bit more concern.

"The table will start to settle down now and I honestly believe that between now and the end of the season we will be thereabouts.

"Things have not quite gone as we would have really liked at the moment. But that will even itself out and I'm very relaxed about the situation.

"We have assembled a squad with a lot of new players who can produce the type of football which we are waiting and hoping for. We want to win in style.

"At the start of the season we had a bit of luck and had to dig deep for results. All of a sudden it seems the tables have turned."
