About time! Last time F1 was at Donington the famous Ayton Senna won a brilliant race. Sure the facilities are not up to scratch but the propsed investment funds will see the track be brought up to world class standards and the knock on effects for local businesses, the airport, etc will be fantastic. Don't forget a new train station at Jct 24 is due to be completed by Dec 2008 so all we have to hope is that the road to Donington via EM Airport becomes a dual carriageway!!!!
Donny supporter, Nottingham

excellent news for the British Gp and cash and jobs to be had as well
Harold, on the racetrack

AWESOME
Ant, work

i never thought this would happen cos the circuit & facilities are so bad for car racing they probably need a total rebuild, having said that i am absolutely delighted & look forward to being stuck in the traffic at J24 for many hours
Louise Hammeltown, Sawley

oooh yey another reason not to go there!
me, here

Bring it on, something good coming to Nottinghamshire (its not Leicestershire or Derbyshire is it?) - Its next to Nottingham airport, must be in Nottinghamshire. FANTASTIC
Borris, Himmalton

i understand this will involve a £100m investment in the circuits facilities and can only be good news for the area. lets make it the best GP on the calender.
s. gamble, nott'm

I'm not surprised. Silverstone was a dump, is a dump and contrary to all the faff from them about upgrading, will probably stay as is. What a terrible shame Rockingham didn't build an F1 circuit, they have got a great facility and is not currently used to its full potential.

Rockingham was 'downgraded' when Bee Bee Developments bought it.

They didn't want the noise from an expanded itinery at the circuit to dampen demand for their new housinh scheme a Priors Hall.

I was told Rockingham can hold 70,000 for entertainment events.

WHY no R.E.M. or other big act? Once or twice per year would be awesome.

At least the GP will still take place in Britain.

How did they let Eccklestone and the dubious President Mosely get so much power?

Time for people or company that love the sport and not the money to run F1. As for Bernie complaining about the old boys club running Silverstone, was it not the old boys that started the idea of the GP that enambled him to line his pocket in the first place. If it wasnt for the risk of loosing the GP altogether everbody should boycott Donnington or have an alternative back at Silvertone that has served the sport well for 20 yrs.
And the heartless money grabbers chose to annouce this just before the race and let the officals find out from a press release rather than tell them to their face.
