Traffic around Corby was brought to a standstill last night after three incidents in the space of an hour.

It was a busy evening on the A6003 with many frustrated commuters caught up in heavy traffic on their way home from work.

Police were first called when a car hit a lamp-post near the Shell Garage at about 5.20pm, leaving a person with minor injuries.

A force spokesman said another crash, which again left those involved with minor injuries, then took place at about 5.45pm near the Beefeater roundabout. It involved a Vauxhall Combo and Vauxhall Insignia and left the road closed for about two hours.

And traffic was further compounded at the same time when a car's battery went flat further down the road.
