Two all-singing all-dancing twins have had their community work recognised with a prestigious Diana Award.
Sunny and Shyam Savani, 15, won the award, which was started in memory of Princess Diana, for their work in dance, drama and media in Wellingborough.
The award is for young people aged between 12 and 18 who have set an example to others through youth work, volunteering, improving the lives of others, or making outstanding contributions to their communities.
The brothers, of Torrington Crescent, Wellingborough, have been working on the Screen Idolz youth project since September, investing time and effort and regularly going straight to practice sessions after school.
Sunny said: "It has been a great opportunity to get recognition for the service we offer."
Shyam said: "We have been celebrating diversity in the community by performing at different shows. We were at an Eid show on Sunday and have been doing Diwali shows. Next week we are doing the Christmas show in Wellingborough."
The twins will be presented with the award by a Diana Award representative at a Screen Idolz Showcase event at The Castle theatre
on December 3.
The twins said their teamwork helped them along the way.
Shyam said: "There are times when we help each other out and if we have a task that we need to do then we both make sure we get it done."
And a helping hand also comes from their older brother, and manager, Jeet. Jeet, who also spent much of his time performing as a teenager, said: "I'm really proud of them. They are outshining me slowly but surely."
The Evening Telegraph has reported the growing success of Sunny and Shyam's Screen Idolz group – which has seen bookings flooding in for events, including a huge gig at Wembley Arena marking the Muslim festival Eid and a Diwali event in Leicester attended by 40,000 people.
The brothers spoke of the electric atmosphere at the Wembley concert, attended by 100,000 people.
Shyam said: "It was fantastic, the crowd was lively, everyone was just enjoying themselves. Words can't explain how it felt to be on stage
there."
But the twins aren't deserting their home town and are still regulars at community events in Wellingborough. You can see them next at the Christmas lights switch-on Saturday, November 29.
Tickets to the Screen Idolz Showcase on December 3 are £5 from The Castle box office on 01933 270007.
