Elderly couple cut from car after crash in Rushden

A man and woman in their eighties had the roof cut from their car by firefighters after a crash in Rushden.
The 81-year-old man and 80-year-old woman crashed in their estate car at the Skew Bridge Intersection, near Waitrose, at about 7.30pm yesterday.
Fire crews from Wellingborough, Rushden and the emergency tender from Mereway were called out to the scene, where the vehicle was in a ditch.
The man suffered head and possible pelvis injuries and the woman suffered arm, leg and pelvic injuries.
Both were taken to hospital by ambulance crews.
